Skin Care Round-Up (my all time must haves!)

All Time Skin Care Favorites

Hi beauties! On today’s blog post; the highly requested skin care round up. If you don’t already know, I am absolutely obsessed with skincare. I have suffered with acne in the past and I was always trying new products. It took a good amount of awful products before I finally figured out what my holy grails were! Over the years I finally found a handful of tried and trues that helped transform my skin!

All opinions are my own and I am in no way getting paid to give my opinion. I have received some of these products for free, however I still love all of these products. My holy grails! Some links are affiliated!

I am going to cover everything from face cleansers, serums, lip care, eye care, SPF, and moisturizers.

What Skin Type Am I ?

My skin is oily to combination. My skin tends to get very oily, especially during the summer months. I do also tend to get very dry skin in the winter. My skin is not a fan of the change in seasons. Living in New England, the weather is always acting up. Therefore, so does my skin! These products have helped my skin type. If your skin is like mine; oily, combination, and sensitive.. then these products might help you as well!

Face Cleansers

A good face cleanser can sometimes be hard to come by. I have four to talk to you about that I have loved over the years! I find it hard to spend a lot of money on a product but, I find that when it comes to skincare, sometimes you need to splurge! I’d rather pay a price for a product to work well.

3 Holy Grail Higher End Face Cleansers

face cleansers

First: I have always loved the skin care line: Murad. I find their products have always worked so well with my skin type. Their AHA/BHA Exfoliating cleansers has been one of my favorites for a while now. I love how gentle of an exfoliator it is, I can use it daily! I find that some exfoliators can be too rough on my sensitive skin. Murad’s is gentle but gets the job done! This has been one of the products that has really played a part in getting my skin free of acne break outs, as well as evening out my tone.

Second: Ole Henriksen, one of my all time FAVORITE skin care brands. You will see that I really love this skin care line because I will mention them again. Their Find Your Balance Oil Control Cleanser helps balance the oils in my skin so well! As mentioned above, my skin can become extremely oily in the summer so I have been using this all summer and really love it!

Third: Kate Somerville; Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love Kate Somerville products? I really love her skin care line and this Gentle Daily Wash Cleanser in specific. I religiously used this product in the winter and really loved the way it made my skin feel after. It felt so refreshed and hydrated. It also helped to keep my acne at bay.

A Drugstore Favorite

Cleansing water

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water: I love love love this cleansing water. It is super affordable and gets the job done. I find that this product takes my make up right off. I love using this before my face cleansers to help make sure I get all of my make up off. Two thumbs up from me!

Face Serums

I will admit, I am a sucker for face serums. I am always trying out new ones! There are a few that I have found to be my holy grails though!

face serum

First: Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum. I told you I loved this line. I am OBSESSED with this serum. It’s a collagen booster so it really brightens your skin. I will apply this at night and when I wake up my skin looks AWAKE, It’s brightened and no longer looking dull. With fall and winter just around the corner this is a must have! In the winter our skin tends to not see the sun as often, making our skin dull. This serum helps to give your skin the vitamin C/D it needs during the winter months.

Second: U.F.O Sunday Riley. This is an Ultra Clarifying Face Oil. This has been one of the products that has given my skin the most improvement. I suffered so badly with cystic acne breakouts. The worst acne to have because it is painful! They will grow under the skin so there is no popping. This oil has diminished my cystic breakouts. I couldn’t be more relieved and impressed! I would apply this every night to the troubled areas and by morning they would be smaller. After 2 months of using it every day, I noticed my cystic breakouts were almost completely gone!

Third: Jan Marini C-Esta Face Serum,This is a newer product that I have been trying out that was sent to me. I have used it for a few weeks now and have been digging it! I wake up in the morning with a brighter complexion. Anything that helps to make my face less dull is an A + for me! This is also a cruelty free brand! YES!

Other Face Oils

I know that if you have oily skin like me, you are probably thinking “Oil on your skin?! That’s not going to work!” Well… YES IT DOES! I know it sounds crazy but your skin actually needs certain oils to keep it hydrated, healthy, and radiant. There are plenty of oils that help improve your skin and do not add to the “oily” complexion.

Essential Oils

Josie Maran: This is one of my favorite skin care lines. Their products are luxurious to my skin. I love using their Argan Oil on my skin because it helps to hydrate and moisturize. If you don’t keep your skin hydrated, you will notice a lot more breakouts. I found that using these oils have actually helped to balance out my skin and create a less “oily” affect.

Eden’s Garden Breathe Easier Essential Oil: I added this in here because this was my saving grace every time I suffered from a really nasty cold! You know when you can’t breathe? Your chest feels like it’s congested? Well, that’s me every time I am sick. I will take this essential oil blend and apply it to my chest. It seriously clears up my sinuses and DOES help me to breathe easier. Miracle in a bottle.

Face Masks

I am a lover of face masks! I love trying out new ones. Nothing like treating yourself to an at home “spa day”. Run the bubble bath and apply these face masks and you will feel luxurious.

face masks patchology

First: Patchology Face Masks. Patchology actually sent me over their skin care line to test out and review. I am so pleased with this brand! I loved all of the products sent to me. These face masks were one of them. After each use, my skin feels refreshed and renewed! One of the best feelings. In my opinion, if you have dry skin these masks will help to hydrate and plump! Not to mention how soft my skin felt after. Such a dream.

mario badescu face masks

Second: Mario Badescu Face Masks. I am obsessed with Mario Badescu and fell in love with their whitening face mask and super collagen face mask. These masks really help to brighten and smooth the skin. You can feel it working! It leaves your skin feeling fresh and soft. I will always continue to use these two masks so a thank you to Mario Badescu for always rescuing my skin!

There is nothing more important than keeping your skin moisturized! Daily and nightly! Your skin craves hydration, just like our bodies. We need to save our skin from dehydration!

cetaphil daily moisturizer

First: Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer, this is my number one holy grail daily moisturizer. I have been using this everyday for years now. I refuse to switch it up. Before applying my makeup I HAVE to apply my Cetaphil moisturizer. It doesn’t break me out which is important because I have very sensitive skin. It also helps for a smooth make up application.

jan marini face cream

Second: Jan Marini Transformation Face Cream. Again this product was sent to me, but again, I absolutely am loving it! I apply this at night and it really helps to hydrate my skin. I love how it feels on my skin, it’s not too heavy but it definitely gets the job done!

There is only one facial toner that I use and will ever use because I love it that much!

murad hydrating face toner

Murad Hydrating Toner: I have been using this toner daily for months now. I have yet to find a better facial toner. This toner helps to not only keep my face hydrated but it also helps with my breakouts! I always breakout around “that time of the month” but, ever since i’ve incorporated this toner in my skin care routine, I find my break outs to be less severe. It really helps to even out my skin tone as well.

I haven’t tried too many lip renewal products but there is one that has worked pretty well thus far!

patchology lip renewal

Patchology Lip Renewal: I love how soft this product leaves my lips. I have noticed a decrease in fine lines as well. I will be testing it out a little bit more but so far so good. Wanted to add it in the mix!

Under Eye Serum

pathology eye gels

Patchology Eye Gels: I find it so difficult to find a good under eye cream or serum that actually works! When Patchology sent me their eye serum to try out I was so excited! After many uses, it truly does work! I have been noticing a decrease in dark circles as well as under eye puffiness. I have always suffered from looking exhausted all the time. I find that this product helps to waken up my under eyes. I recommend it!

Body Creams + Moisturizers

I always love a good body cream! My skin can get so dry during the summer and especially the winter. My legs especially! I am always looking for a good body lotion.

coconut oil

First: Coconut oil. My all time favorite! It’s 100% natural and leaves my skin feeling so moisturized. If you haven’t tried coconut oil out yet, PLEASE DO! It will be life changing, I promise.

body shop butter

Second: The Body Shop Body Butter – Almond. I have been a fan of The Body Shop for years. Their body butters are exquisite. One of my favorites is in Almond. It feels amazing on my skin and really helps to keep it hydrated. The scent isn’t too over powering but smells delightful.

seaweed bath and co body cream

Third: The Seaweed Bath Co. Body Cream. I have recently tried this product just this summer. I saw it at of course, target and had to pick it up! I think the packaging caught my eye. After using this product throughout the summer, I am definitely a fan! This is in citrus vanilla and smells great! It does really help to hydrate and smooth my skin. I love to apply this after I have shaved. It leaves my legs feeling so soft!

Shower Gels & Body Scrubs

Nothing better than finding a shower gel that you absolutely love. It is also so important to exfoliate your body at least once a week! Dry, dead skin lingers and it’s important to scrub it all off.

soap and glory

Soap & Glory Clean On Me: This shower gel is my go to. I actually am finished with the bottle and super sad I don’t have a back up! I will be ordering more. I love the way this gel feels and smells! I use it to shave and soap up.

Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub: As you can see, I love Soap & Glory shower products! Their breakfast scrub is the best body exfoliator I have come across so far. It really helps to get at the dead skin and helps to leave my skin nice and smooth! I use this weekly. I find that you shouldn’t use an exfoliator too often because it can be rough and damaging to your skin. Once a week is my go to rule!

Lastly, I want to talk about SPF! Of course, it is so important to protect your skin from the UV rays of the sun. Since it is still summer, I figured i’d mention my favorite summer skin care line.

coola sunscreen

Coola: Their summer skin care line has been a major yes this year for me. They sent me their sunscreen to test out and I really love it! Not to mention the spray is so convenient. It helps to make application much easier! I also love the mineral stick because I can apply it to my face easily. These two have been a must have this summer. It blocks the sun perfectly so that I don’t get red but allows my skin to still get the Vitamin D that it needs. I also want to mention, this is an organic skin care line! There are many sunscreens out there with too many chemicals that I begin to think they are doing more damage than the sun ever could!

I hope you all enjoyed my skin care round up! Hoping that maybe you can try out these products too and get your skin under control!

Leave a comment and let me know if you have used any of these products or if you have any recommendations for me! I love testing out new skin care!

Until Next Time,
