9 Ways to Increase your Blog Post Shares
Today I wanted to talk about a popular topic: Increasing your blog post shares which in return helps to grow your blog traffic! Many would think that you’d post your blog post and share it once and that’s it. Well, I wish it was that easy. Here are some of my favorite ways to increase your blog post shares!

1. Have Share Buttons Present
The first and most important way to increase your blog post shares is to make sure you have share buttons present on your website. It only makes sense right? If you don’t have share buttons then how will your audience be able to share the content they love from you? I use the Social Warfare Plug in and I love how easy to use it is! Their paid plans allow you to choose which image to feature first (this way you can make sure your Pinterest image is the first image being shown.) This plug in also shows statistics so you can see how many times your post is being shared on each social media platform! Such a useful plug in to have! Having a plug in like this will make sure that your content has the ability to be seen and shared with a larger audience!
Do you have access to plug-ins? I find plug-ins to be extremely useful! There are so many out there. If you aren’t self hosted using wordpress you might be missing out! You can get self hosted today with Siteground. It’s who I use to self-host my blog and I love their customer service and server speed! I used to be on free wordpress .com but I wanted to have access to plug-ins! Self hosting was cheaper than upgrading to wordpress business. It’s a win win! They start at $3.95 a month via my link!
2. Use Pinterest
Pinterest is so helpful when it comes to getting more blog post shares and new eyes on your content! My blog post shares quadrupled and my blog traffic sky rocketed after I started using Pinterest properly to benefit my blog. If you have no idea how to get started with Pinterest or if you are lost when it comes to growing your blog with Pinterest, then I recommend taking this affordable course! Utilizing the strategies and tips from this course is what helped to skyrocket my blog’s stats!
If you already use Pinterest but might not have the time to manually pin all day, I suggest investing in Tailwind! It helps make life so much easier so you can be as active as possible on Pinterest daily! The more active the better, as long as you aren’t spammy! Tailwind has helped me reach audiences all around the world!
3. Create a Pin Worthy Image for Each Blog Post
If you don’t already know, Pinterest is so POPULAR for blogs. If you think about it, every pin on Pinterest usually links to a blog post. It’s the #1 source for blog traffic now a days, and people are constantly pinning blog posts to Pinterest. It’s a free marketing tool for bloggers and business owners!
When it comes to Pinterest there is a little bit of a strategy to getting your images pinned and shared. Usually the pins that get the most attention and repins are pins that catch the eye with catchy titles, and vertical pins at least 600 x 900!
Ideally, you want to make sure you have a Pin worthy Image on each blog post! This will help you receive more shares and traffic from Pinterest!
You can use Canva to create the perfect pins, they even have a Pinterest pin template to make it even easier!

4. Create Quality Content
This is a no brainer but quality content gets the most blog post shares…most of the time! Make sure you are always putting out your best content. I find content that answers questions or helps to solve a problem tends to get shared more often.
I put together a helpful guide on how to consistently put out your best content! You can read that guide here.
5. Utilize Facebook Groups
I love being a part of supporting communities on Facebook! If you haven’t already joined a few of the blogging communities out there on Facebook, I suggest you check them out! In these communities you can usually find weekly threads. One popular weekly thread is a blog post shares promo thread! Usually you’d share your blog post link to the thread and then you would comment on and check out others blogs! It’s a great way to help expand your reach, find new blogs, and get your posts shared!
If you aren’t already a part of the community I created for female bloggers, I would love to have you join! It’s called Boss Girl Bloggers and it’s a community of over 31,000 supporting female bloggers.
I do weekly blog share threads! (:
6. Call to Action
You’d be surprised but sometimes you need to ASK in order to receive. A great way to try and increase your blog post shares is to have a call to action at the end of the post. It could be as simple as
“Thank you so much for reading, if you enjoyed this blog post please give it a share!”
7. Install + Use the Click to Tweet Plug-in
I recently have been using Twitter a lot more and I am obsessed… The blogging community on Twitter is simply amazing and so supporting!
ANYWAYS – you can use the “Click to Tweet” plug-in to make it easier for your readers to share your post to twitter![click_to_tweet tweet=”Increase your blog post shares with these helpful tips! ” quote=”Increase your blog post shares with these helpful tips!” theme=”style3″]

Having a personal connection with your audience will build trust which in return can bring you more blog shares! Don’t be afraid to get personal and relatable. Not to mention, in order to receive support you need to give support!
Go out of your way to comment and share others’ blog posts too! You’d be surprised how much a comment can truly mean to a blogger! Small acts of kindness always bring good karma.
9. Invest Time in Learning SEO
A more complex topic is SEO (Search Engine Optimization). If you practice good SEO strategies, you will increase your chances of ranking higher on search engines (google) which in return can bring you more views and shares!
Some tips I have for practicing proper SEO strategies is:
- Utilize keywords and make sure the keywords are in your title, image alt text, meta description, throughout your blog post, and in H2 headings
- Install the YOAST SEO plug-in. This plug-in will help guide you to make sure your posts are search engine optimized!
- Interlink your content – when you can, link back to relevant blog posts!
- Guest post and build up your back links! It’s ideal to get your website link onto others’ websites! This helps to build trust and rank higher!
